St. Marks Anglican Church and Colonial Cemetery by

Taken at the St. Marks Church in Picton NSW Australia. The site also includes a colonial cemetery. The foundation stone of which was laid in 1850 can be seen on one of the walls of the church. Inscriptions in its cemetery date from 1858. As you walk around the area you can’t help feel for husbands that lost their wives the wives that lost their husband or as I read on one headstone of the parents that lost a son at the age of 20, accidentally shot or the loss of their father or mother and shed a tear for the number of children and babies that were not even given a chance to grow up. The youngest was about 21 days old.
And if your interested in ghosts, well there is a very interesting story about this graveyard to read about it go to:

Freelance Photographer from the western suburbs of Sydney NSW Australia. I loved to find old abandoned objects and building and out of the way places to photograph. I also have a love of the history of my surrounding suburbs, especially Parramatta as it was the first convict settlement of Australia.
