beautiful words..my mother passed away last summer. hugs, Nina
Life is eternal; and love is immortal; and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.- R. W. Raymond
And yet, to see Life clearly and unobstructed, we must first, close our eyes to our mortality and open them to Love.- G
It’s always hard when you lose someone you love, but to lose the one who gave you life, I think, must be the most difficult loss of all. But I take comfort in knowing that she is not truly gone. Thanks for the read and the comment, Nina
The grave is but a covered bridge Leading from light to light, through a brief darkness!- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
God is Love and God is in all things. Therefore, we who are created of Love, each with a spark of the divine for that purpose, are also in all things. Thank you, Lee, (Which is my mother’s middle name, by the way.) for the read and the condolences.

A stunning haiku! I love how your poem blossoms in that last line. It’s a great honor to your mother’s memory!
Death is not extinguishing the light; it is putting out the lamp because the dawn has come.- Rabindranath Tagore
On that day when my mortal flame is snuffed, do not weep for me; rather, rejoice for I have no need of light, but that which blossoms and burns in Love eternal.- G
In some native cultures, it is forbidden to speak the names of the dead lest you curse them, or worse, be cursed yourself. But I should think, as all things were created from the speech of God, Himself; speaking in commemoration of someone is, in fact, a recreation of that person. To bridge the distance ‘tween this life and the next.
Words are powerful, and names especially so – when God created the world, He did so through speech and I believe when we were created and when we are born from His hand to this world as individuals, He speaks our names, as He does our souls, into existence. So long as your name is spoken you continue to live in this world and the next. We were born in the whisper of God’s love, yet when we return again to that same Love, our names are shouted in triumph.
I humbly thank you, dear Rebie, for the honor of your comment…and your favorite G..
from this field of wheat and tares, what must we keep?
love – of course Is all that matters.
The remembrance of loved ones is not in what they leave behind physically, but what they leave in the hearts of people. Mom’s name will never be forgotten. {{{hugs}}} G.
