Way back in ‘78 (when I was knee high to a grasshopper) I was commisioned by a burgeoning record label (Vibes) to draw this sleeve cover for their 2nd single… ’Stole all my love’ by Fran Barrie (who went on as Fran Raya to accompany the likes of Eric Clapton, Joan Armitrading and Richie Blackmore).
Back then I was a teen in the indie underground comic scene and my artwork and writing reflected this (Crumb, Gerber, etc.) and I went by the name of ‘Sadistic Scribbler’. This cover was very different in style, and was quickly drawn… just to show that I was also capable of “proper drawings”.
I’ve just re-found this image on the internet – sorry for the poor quality of the image (it’s over 30 years old!) from someone’s online music collection, and thought it might be of interest.
