A view looking North over Ambleside, at the Northern point of Lake Windermere.
I choose this vantage point, because it was purpose built.
Perched on the Garden wall of Wray Castle.
The Castle is a large private house built near Ambleside in in the Gothic Revival style in 1840.
The grounds are known for their selection of specimen trees – Wellingtonia, redwood, Ginkgo biloba, weeping lime and varieties of beech.
Beatrix Potter bought considerable tracts of land in this area, including most of the land surrounding Wray Castle, though she never owned the castle itself.
