Cape Peron by

Point Peron is also known as Cape Peron. Rugged limestone cliffs, reefs and beautiful panoramic views are a feature of this very popular area.

During WWII, an observation post for the coastal battery was located on the hilltop, and the old buildings remain.

A short climb up to the old observation post will give you spectacular views over Cockburn Sound, and the offshore islands. The lookout can be accessed by a pleasant winding path (no steps), or a fairly steep set of steps for those feeling a little more energetic!

Point Peron is excellent for fishing, snorkelling and diving. Explore the rock pools at low tide.

The image of the actual observation post is added elsewhere in my portfolio.

Huge vista Nathan and you have done it justice – having a couple of people down on the rocks/beach sure gives a sense of scale!

Thanks guys. Believe it or not the local shire and certain business persons want to stick a “bloody marina” in here. So the money hungry shire can get richer and only the well to do can enjoy it.
There is currently a campaign from local residents and environmental groups trying to stop any development from going ahead.
