This is Shakira, a Spectacled owl. An absolutely stunning, majestic bird. Strangely enough though, She meowed like a cat!
The shot was taken at Kielder Forests Leaplish park Bird Centre.

Very striking capture, from a wonderfull bird.
I must have visited many bird and raptor centres in the UK, but am always horrified, that these places keep these birds in rather poor conditions and small cages. It has nothing to do with ;and availability, as the seem to have lots of space for kiddies playgrounds and huge restaurants and catering establishments. It sickens me, that these so called experts and zoologists give prevalence to the cash register rather to the animals in their care.
