CHINA - Venice of the East
This photo was taken 12-6-07 in Wuxi, China. The Grand Canal has 2,400 years of history. We were able to experience the unique cultures while on a small vessel. I saw daily life of the local residents (working, walking, clothes hanging outside to dry and a lot more). This picture shows local residents walking across the canal bridge to and from their home. To me this ancient bridge is beautiful and I like their colorful red décor lanterns outside their residence. The man on top of the bridge wearing red clothes ties it into the red lanterns. I didn’t crop out the home on the right because the bridge would have looked goofy.
I was fortunate this shot was not very smoggy, as Shanghai and up to 4 hours away the smog was like pea soup fog, yet it was still an overcast day because of smog.
My back re: spinal fusion is getting worse, so this photo was taken with my Point N’ Shoot Sony camera. 72 DPI, 1/250 @ f/6.3, speed 125, length 10.2 mm. Removed electric poles and wires.
I hope you will enjoy it. All comments are welcome.
Take care, Bonnie

A very fine scene of this oriental bridge which to us appears similar to Italian architecture.
The people show the scale nicely. And the deep reds, further increase the visual appeal.
As this is your only surviving photo, it is all the more precious.
