Artist's Description

In the late Seventies, Reynolds 753 was the peak of bicycle frame technology, and used by top European professional teams.

The TI-Raleigh team, Jan Raas, Gerrie Kneteman, Hennie Kuiper, Dave Lloyd; DAF Cote d’Or team, Kuiper , Rene Maertens and Roger de Vlaeminck; La Vie Claire team, Bernard Hinault, Greg Lemond, Andy Hampsten; and later the Motorola team, Steve Bauer, et al., all rode bicycle frames build with Reynolds 753.

“The 753 tubeset was the first heat-treated tubeset in the race bicycle industry, based on the same alloy as 531. Used mainly in lugged and fillet-brazed framesets, Reynolds implemented a Certfication procedure for builders who wished to use the tubing, as it helped builders understand the requirement to avoid overheating the thin wall tubes. Most builders used silver-brazing for the fabrication of frames, due to the low melting point, so that 753 tubing was not annealed inadvertently.”

This version of the iconic Reynolds 753 frame transfer has enhanced color for better printing.
