after viewing the world press photo exhibition in wellington, aotearoa – new zealand in 2002 I’d just had enough, enough of seeing dead bodies and starving children and weaponry, used to sell newspapers and magazines….

photographers, and artists, do an amazing job, however they do it. and anothers work cannot be judged by sensory perception alone. it must take in the full picture of current situation as it is without cultural, religious or political blemishes or biases.

what the general public is presented with, to package as their reality, is simply and financially calculated as a percentage, and then maximized for fiscal and political gain.

…my cash flow at the time was minimal, a friend had helped out, along the way, and, i got to wellington, in the north island to greet HH Dalai Lama, in person, upon his arrival into aotearoa – new zealand.
the day before his arrival i went to the exhibit. this, for me, as the author, is about the tibetan people and their culture.
i am biased, as these beautiful, wild, yet peaceful people have only recently (1950 – that’s 60 years ago !!!) been invaded by another, and yet we watch, and wait, to see what money will buy, what elections will kill, what media will fictionalize.
whilst the children still need to be fed, and clothed, and educated – in things of this reality, and all things beyond, and before…
