I thought that maybe I was going to miss a shot of a fawn this year but I happened to come across this fellow on one of my walks last week. We both kind of surprised each other at the same time (hense the title). This one let me get a few captures, then decided it would be better to wait for his mother under the cover of some deep brush. I said goodbye and thank you for the shots. :)

The scientific name of this species is: Odocoileus virginianus.
