This catbird was looking for some tasty morsels by flipping some leaves over on the shrubbery floor. It is very hard to capture these guys out in the open without a lot of branches,so I was happy to capture him on the ground. I was also very glad to see that I had captured the red rump which is not easily visable on this species many times. Lastly, if you are wondering how this species got its common name it is from its cat like mewing call that is often heard within the shrubbery environment where it lives. :)
This was taken at Stewart Park in Ithaca NY.
The scientific name for this species is: Dumetella carolinensis.
