This was my last shot of the night tonight. I saw enough light still on the lake to maybe get a cool shot of this little tree sticking up. I went off trail and closer to the lake to get get a little more of the lake and less of the background. I lined it up and set the exposure for 30 seconds, hit the remote, waited until it was finished, packed up my gear and headed home using a flashlight. It wasn’t until I opened the image up on the computer that I saw the little bird sitting there! It was dark enough that I really couldn’t see that well and I was focused on the little tree. I thought the thing to the right was just a piece of wood and I would probably crop it out in post. How the hell did that little guy stand that still for 30 seconds? I can’t get my son to sit still for one “say cheese”! I’m thinking about adopting that little bird.
