It is a giant crystal and quartz building symbolizing one of the ‘jewels’ of nature. It stands 30 metres high and is angled at 60 degrees. It consists of 3000 ‘plaques-miroirs’ and covers a surface area of 4 250 m². Housing an IMAX screen measuring 600 m² it seats 440 people.
It was constructed in 1987 and is located at Futuroscope, nr Poitiers, France. This image was shot in 2007.

Fuji Finepix S5000, ISO 200, f8, 1/320 sec.

Original JPEG image edited through various layers and blending modes in CS4 to tone down the surrounding area to focus attention on the building.

I’ve read about this Bob, wonderful to see it, the other buildings give it a good sense of scale, certainly looks BIG. Your Photoshop work is perfect and isolates the building wonderfully.

  • Thank you so much David for your thoughtful comment. Have to say it is an awesome building – must have been a nightmare for the builders!

I love what you have done here Bob, the building stands, isolated from the rest, but yet connected. It reminds me of an architectural model. Fabulous editing.

  • Thank you so much sweetheart – praise indeed. Thanks for favouriting too! xx

It looks like a Ribiks cube with a bad hair day.

You have made it look like the Architects model.

Good work Bob. This looks like the sort of futuristic drawing by enthusiastic young architects that I used to work with in my younger days. Good processing too!

  • hi Geoff, yes but this young enthusiastic architect brought it off – it is amazing work. Thank you so much for your comment.
