BEST VIEWED LARGE!
Colorado has been hit with some of the smoke from the Arizona wildfires going on recently (June, 2011).
The night before this shot (June 5th, 2011), the sun was literally like a ball of fire. You could look directly at it with no eye protection; that’s how hazy it was.
I was inspired to shoot this scene because of the previous night’s sunset and the wildfires.
I knew I had to get out to my spot the following night, just incase. Needless to say, the sun wasn’t AS spectacular, but it still produced some magnificent images.
Featured:
This shot was taken in Broomfield, CO, USA.
This is a wide angle panorama. I took 4 sets of 3 bracketed exposures and tone-mapped/detail enhanced each one of the four in Photomatix 4.0.
I then saved each file as a 16-Bit TIFF. I opened and merged in Photoshop to create one panorama. Cropped and slightly adjusted before saved as a high quality JPEG image.

Wow. This really caught my eye. I think it is the unusual composition that struck me even before the sunset. Nice work!
