I FINALLY got out and shot something last night!
I had a feeling that the sunset was going to be a good one, and I had scoped out a spot that I really liked.
I headed over about 30 minutes before sunset and sat up, and waited, and waited. It seemed as if my luck was going to run out and the sunset would not be that great after all.

But alas, my patience was rewarded and I came away with this shot (well, 5) as well as some others.

Yes, this is an HDR image.
It is 3 photos; -2, 0, 2.
I merged the photos in Photomatix Pro 4 and then tonemapped. I saved it as a 16Bit-Tiff file (128mb around) and then opened in photoshop to add a little more contrast/saturation and resized the image a little bit.

Technical:
ISO @ 50 the whole time
Aperture @ f/11 the whole time
Focal @ 12mm the whole time

Taken with a Canon 5D Mk II and Sigma 12-24mm lens.

Taken only a few miles from my home, in Broomfield, Colorado, USA

Oooooohhhhh awwwwwwwwwww I love them both but I do love the rocks in this shot. Don’t make me decide though …. they both rock.

  • Haha thanks Cassandra. I won’t make you decide, just curious what people think! :)

Hmmmmmm awsome photo, I think if I had to make a decision i would choose the one with the rocks it leads you in to the sunset.

  • Thanks much! I like them both, I don’t know… But I do agree with you about the rocks acting as leading lines.

    Thanks for the great comment!
