My name’s Rebecca, I live in a wonderfully colourful and lively city in the UK called Bristol. Many of my shots are from Ireland, where I lived for 10 years beneath the Dublin mountains, and others are from beautiful gardens in Wales where my father lives and I spent my childhood years.
I mainly like to shoot nature in macro and am deeply fascinated by light and colour so you will see this reflected in my photography. Everything you see in my photography is natural light as I do not like using flash.
My camera equipment now consists of a Nikon D90 with standard and macro Sigma lenses (which I recently acquired when my trusty old D80 finally breathed its last breath); and I also have a Fujifilm Finepix s4200 (a little bridge camera and an upgrade on the s602z I used to own) which is my favourite for taking here, there and everywhere for convenience. I do not edit my digital photography too heavily, although some require a little tweaking in Photoshop to adjust contrast and saturation. I do not apply any filters to them, everything you see is exactly how I saw it through the lens.
In addition to this, you will find some shots in my portfolio taken with my old iPhone. I have used lomography apps to enhance these and make them into works of art. Nowadays I have a Samsung Galaxy J7, and I have been very active on Instagram for the last 5 or so years (@OmegaAmiga). This is where you will now find most of my phone photography, as I reserve Redbubble for my digital work – but I shall occasionally add the odd phone photo if it makes the grade!
Way back in the day, I used to shoot with a Nikon F90X – some of these shots can be seen in the 35mm gallery. I miss the quality of film photography and the great feeling you get when you discover a real gem on your roll of film… sadly, it’s too costly for me to continue to pursue now.
Aside from photography my interests include spending time with my loved ones (boyfriend Roller and lurcher dog Gerry), making and selling handmade gemstone jewellery and felt plushes on Etsy, visiting new and exciting places, going to gigs and festivals and having adventures on foot / by bicycle / on my motorbike. All this is going to change in the latter half of 2017 as I am now expecting my first child. I hope I shall find time to continue to pursue my hobbies, but I’m sure new ones will evolve as time goes on!
