Omey Island, Connemara, Co. Galway, Ireland.

This remote place is special to me as the graveyard on the Island contains the High Cross commemorating the fishermen lost at sea in the Cleggan Fishing Disaster – my boyfriend’s great grandfather was one of the fishermen who died in this tragedy.

wow fantastic shot!! im amazed no one else has commented on this before now. amazing work!!

  • oh thanks! i just thought it was a pretty generic, normal sunset photo really :-p The location is fabulous though, it’s a tiny tiny island called Omey off the coast of Connemara in Co. Galway, you can walk out to it when the tide goes out :) All that’s on it is a couple of remote farmhouses, a lake, lots of rocks, a ruined medieval church that they had to dig out of the sand, and this graveyard where the sailors from the Cleggan fishing disaster have a memorial (the high cross). Sorry for waffling, hehe.
