Big Rideau Lake, Ontario, Canada

I woke up at 4:30 hopped in my boat and headed down the lake while it was still dark in hopes of capturing a magic moment with a mated pair of loons I have been following in perfect light. Before take off loons generate tremendous churn under the water with huge webbed feet in order to propel themselves forward. The result in this case was a huge air bubble approx 7 inches high encasing the bird which I have never before experienced. Thought it was pretty cool so wanted to share with my fellow bird lovers. If anyone else has ever seen this I’d love to hear from you.
