147 - DUNSTANBURGH CASTLE - DAVE EDWARDS - 2012 by

Last week, I finally got to see this castle after 62 years waiting!

I’d seen it from a distance, but had never been inside. There isn’t much of it left, but it must have been fabulous when it was in its prime.

King Edward II’s cousin, Thomas, Earl of Lancaster, started to build this castle in 1313 but his opposition to the king led to his execution and building work was completed in the 1380s by John of Gaunt.

I used my Samsung WB700 compact camera for this photo.

My real name is Dafydd (Dave) and I am retired for health reasons and take charge of the housework while my wife is at work. I have many interests, including genealogy, poetry, writing, art, art study, local history, photography (I’ve no expensive equipment though – just a love for clicking) etc.

Very nice Dave. Seeing castles on high places surrounded by green like this makes me think back on Edinburgh Castle
