17 - GREEN MAN, ISLE OF WIGHT - 2004 by

I was strolling aorund Seaview, Ryde, while holidaying on the isle of wight and I spotted this in someone’s garden. I spoke to the lady who owned the house and she said it was okay to photograph it. They had an old tree that had died and they hired a wood carver to transform it into this beautiful carving.

My real name is Dafydd (Dave) and I am retired for health reasons and take charge of the housework while my wife is at work. I have many interests, including genealogy, poetry, writing, art, art study, local history, photography (I’ve no expensive equipment though – just a love for clicking) etc.

    fantastic,,,reminds me of a Labrador

  • You are the first (and very possibly the last) person to spot that resemblance Sean … I’d be interested to see your labrador :) Okay .. I see you refer to the hair that looks like ears :)

This is such fun! There’s a neighborhood near me that has about 20 streets and there are at least 1 or 2 tree stumps on each street that have been carved into some sort of creature. There are tons of bears and several eagles. There is one panther and a column of flowers. Its like being transported to Oz just driving up and doown those streets.
