Last night (13th May 2008) I saw Joe Satriani perform live at Newcastle City Hall, England. Such was the respect the audience had for him, we all remained standing throughout the entire two hour performance. This man is a magician with a guitar.
It was my son’s idea for us to go and I was a little wary at first (£30 each for tickets) but hey, it was worth every penny … Paul Gilbert started the show and performed for one hour and he too was brilliant. Prior to this the best performance I ever witnessed was probably when Pink Floyd performed Dark Side of the Moon at Newcastle Odeon in the mid seventies, but this equalled it.

There were almost 2,000 people in the audience last night and he has seven more cities to perform in during his UK tour. He is American by the way. What pleased me was to see that many of the audience were even older than I am.
Awesome guitarist and great shot. Nicley done! If you get a chance, see if you can grab the DVD “G3 Live In Tokyo”. Features Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and John Petrucci. Worth a watch.
