SUGGESTIONS FOR ENJOYING YOUR REDBUBBLE EXPERIENCE by BLYTHPHOTO

Posted on May 20, 2011

  • I have copied this from my Blythart Journal as it may interest those who are Watching my Blythphoto account too. In retrospect, may I clarify that this is aimed at those who want to enter into the spirit of Redbubble, make contact with other artists, sell pictures, etc.*

To save further criticism of my efforts I have altered my title, which was originally “A REDBUBBLE REALITY CHECK”.

This is not aimed at anyone who simply uses Redbubble as a storage/display facility for their artwork – no offence intended to anyone.

It is not (as some have suggested) a Ten Commandments, but is intended to be read as friendly and helpful SUGGESTIONS.

(Despite one or two objections to this article, on Blythart 10 people have favourited it and it has had 163 views)*

  • There are thousands of artists on Redbubble; you need to make an effort to be noticed.
  • No-one is going to come looking for your work, because they don’t know it exists.
  • Think of your work as a product. You want to sell it, then advertise it. Join lots of groups and submit work to them.
  • Become part of the Redbubble community by being friendly and admiring the work of others.
  • Remember that you get what you give and if you ignore everyone’s work and refuse to answer their Bubblemails or reply to their comments, they will soon get bored with you.
  • Keep producing new work. However good your work may be, no-one wants to repeatedly look at the same artwork over and over again.
  • In a similar vein, don’t rest on your laurels. If you do a good piece of art and it gets lots of praise and attention, that is the signal to get busy and do more work while people are still aware of you.
  • Always be sincere. If you favourite people’s work just so they will look at yours, they’ll soon become wise to your little game.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask other artists for help and advice; 99% of us are more than willing to be encouraging and helpful if we are able to.
  • And finally, remember, it’s not “all about you” … this is a community of artists; we are here to share, to encourage and to support one another.

If any of that was helpful to someone – anyone – I am more than satisfied. If anyone was offended, then I’m sorry but that was not my intention.
