THIS IS NOT A NEW PAINTING

FEATURED BY AVANT-GARDE GROUP – 2nd May 2011

Durham is a lovely city in Northern England, with a cathedral and a castle. This is a stylised version of a black and white photo I once took.

I am a retired man who enjoys expressing himself in pencils and paints. I have had two solo exhibitions in my home town and I love Redbubble. I get as much pleasure from viewing the works of other artists as from creating my own.

aaa the icey liquid river is a gr8 contradiction, nice one

  • U know … I never thought of it as anything to do with Escher, but now you mention it, maybe I was influenced subconsciously … thanks for comment.

I find that the lines of the fence, water and path draw my eye into the right side of the painting and then the bridge and the cloud lead my eye over to the other side of the river and then the horizontial lines in the river draw my eye back to the begining. I find this is a good point because it keeps my eye moving through your painting and I am not stuck on one point so I see your painting as a whole. I like the shapes of your buildings they seem to have their own distinct character. Keep up the good work

  • Thanks for such a detailed comment … makes a pleasant change from “nice” :)

This is lovely, why do you take your art off? You have a unique ability to draw a unique way.

  • I took these off because nobody commented on them, but now I have a larger circle of friends on Redbubble, so more people take notice, which is encouraging. One painting I put on yesterday got six favouritings, yet it hardly raised an eyebrow last time.
