Well, after lots of work in our garden I have finally found time to finish one of the many drawings I have in progress.

This is a newer colourful version of a drawing I did back in 1986.

I used coloured pencils and fineliners for this new one.

Here is my original version from 26 years ago:

FEATURED BY LOVE OF EERIE AND ENCHANTING ARTWORK GROUP – 11th October 2012

FEATURED BY DECORATIVE & TRADITIONAL ART GROUP – 22nd October 2012

I am a retired man who enjoys expressing himself in pencils and paints. I have had two solo exhibitions in my home town and I love Redbubble. I get as much pleasure from viewing the works of other artists as from creating my own.

great work Dave, love the bell bottoms!

  • Ahhhh – but can you actually remember bell-bottoms? :-) I had a great pair of flared jeans. I spent hours fraying the bottoms of the legs and even though I ended up using them as working trousers I still liked them …. until my wife put them into the bin. Ah – she meant well I suppose – no good clinging pathetically to the past I suppose.

Awesome Dave; wow 26 years ago? When you go back to something from that long ago, certainly the newer version will definitely have qualities of the influences you perhaps wouldn’t have had back then – and of course when going back to something from the past you’ll pick up what you had then before too; the youth of the days :)

  • You are so right! Nostalgia can be quite inspiring. I don’t mean to make myself sound ancient, but my earliest surviving drawing is from 1965. For the record, here it is (1965):
