355 - SMUG MITCH - DAVE EDWARDS - COLOURED PENCILS & INK - 2012 by

FEATURED BY CAT’S PAJAMAS GROUP – 21st July 2012

Picture 354 was a green version of our five year-old cat Mao. I have now completed this portrait of our four year-old cat Mitch. He is a delightfully naughty cat and after he’s been up to mischief he always stares at us with a smug expression on his face.

You can read about our two cats here

Oh yes …. I forgot to say …. I used coloured pencils and a little ink for this picture. I also used graphite pencils to add fine detail and it seems to have worked. I like trying new (to me) techniques.

I am a retired man who enjoys expressing himself in pencils and paints. I have had two solo exhibitions in my home town and I love Redbubble. I get as much pleasure from viewing the works of other artists as from creating my own.

A lovely work. He does look very smug. :o) My kitty tends be like him too.

  • Thanks Bunny. Mitch is the naughtiest cat we’ve ever had, but he is so loveable we forgive him everything.

A smug kitty indeed! He looks like he’s just hid the can of tuna from Mao… Love the colours! :O)

  • Thanks. Reading your comment, it’s almost as though you know him :-) He would hide the can if he could.

  • Thanks. That’s the problem with where I live. I can walk West., I can walk South. I can walk North. I can’t walk East though, or I’d sink :-)

Oh this is so cute! Love their cheeky attitudes. I’ve known cats who start tipping things over once their owners are not looking – so naughty!

  • Thanks. This one leaped off the wardrobe onto my wife’s dressing table the other day and sent her perfume bottles flying eveyrwhere … none broke fortunately.

I like it, the contrast in colors and shapes makes it really a standout.

  • Thank you Byron.

OH I LOVE THIS PIECE GREAT COLOR, PRETTY KITTY, TAKES PAITIANTS TO USE COLOR PENCIL. I GET TO ANTSY WITH IT BUT YOU ARE TALANTED!

  • Thaks for that lovely comment Kimberly. I just adore those cheap pencils that W.H. Smith’s Stationers sell. I think it is the waxiness that appeals to me. I’m not a purist either, ’cos if I want to use ink, graphite or coloured felt-tip pens to add detail I just do it.
