I did this thirteen years ago. Sometimes it is good to get back to one’s roots a little and I am kicking myself that I gave up on colour pencil work ten years ago. I have returned to it recently and, unlike those days, people actually seem to like some of it.
Here is a link to a collaboration John Edwards and I did, where he used this as a background to great effect.
Lovely as always :) Such a fun style… Did it take a long time to make? The hatching looks very small and intricate!
I never really time my work, Cadence, as I do it in fits and starts. My scenic pen and inks that I did for making into prints used to take on average ten hours each to do, but the colour work is sometimes less than that, particularly ones like these.
I think I like this one the best from the ones you posted recently. It’s simple but so very effective. The colours go together really well and I like the faint cross-hatching in the background and all the nice details on the flowers and leaves. Nice work!
