FEATURED BY THE ABSTRACT ART GROUP – 8th April 2011
As I have been Featured a lot recently by the Abstract Art Group I thought it would be a good idea to dedicate this example of my abstract art to their group.
FEATURED BY BRITISH PAINTERS GROUP – 26th April 2011
very interesting, my friend! is there a story behind this one? i like the colors, and the freedom to express in this one! Sometimes it really funny how you just sit down with your tools, and just let it happen… no preconceived ideas, no plan… just let it flow! great job!
Thanks for your nice comment Barb (although actually your comments are always nice).
I’d love to tell you if there was a story behind this, but I genuinely can’t remember what inspired it. That is the downside of uploading work I did nine years ago :)
Ask me what I had for lunch yesterday and with an effort I might just be able to tell you.
Has an intriguing ‘other world’ feeling – glowing and amoeba-like. The thrust of it also makes me want to try and lift it off the black background somehow or other!!
Thanks. I shall be checking daily to see if there are any signs of a certain lady attempting to prise my drawing from its background :)
lets call it the alien sandwich,, teehee, IT IS MARVELOUS,, I love it Dave, now I wish we did know what was going on in your head at the time, but its great you are sharing it with us now.. peace and love linmarie
Also got the strong visual impression of a thinly machined piece of timber beautifully polished with holes drilled through the ‘rings of time’ and/or a thin slice of a gemstone of some sort – am no lapidary expert but that glow is gemlike – so have to agree with DLKeur – your art sure fires up the imagination!
It’s great that this is getting people’s imagination working overtime :)

Very interesting work! This has a real three dimensional quality to it.
Thanks Angie. My early work was always as flat as a pancake, but I am trying now to remember to add a few shadows to create the illusion fo depth.

A work that catalyzes the imagination.
Thank you. You leave the nicest comments … and I certainly appreciate them. As you can see, I dedicated this to your group.

Thanks Biddumy. Oops, glad I altered that. Due to being tired I had typed Biffumy :)

Lovely work. It reminds me of some of the shells I have seen washed up after a storm. Gorgeous piece.
Thanks Bunny.

Yes, that’s it! Bunny has the right idea, I think. This is like a shell fragment with a nacre-like effect. Very interesting!!
Thanks Joanne.

An interesting piece Dave !
It is the kind of thing we see in many of the newer public sculptures, of which I am a big fan !
Thanks George.
