Artist's Description

Please note the date on this picture. It is the earliest surviving coloured picture I ever did.

For the benefit of those too young to remember 1965, it was the year when Sir Winston Churchill died, Malcolm X was assassinated, The Sound of Music premiered, Muhammad Ali knocked out Sonny Liston, Bob Dylan went electric and released Like A Rolling Stone, The Beatles performed the first stadium concert in the history of rock, playing at Shea Stadium in New York, Tom & Jerry premiered, The Beatles released Rubber Soul and fifteen-year-old Dave Edwards made this lino-print :)

I did this while I was still at school and it is of the many colliery villages around here where rows of identical houses were lined up near a colliery for the workers to live in.
