317 - COCKEREL DESIGN - DAVE EDWARDS - COLOURED PENCILS - 2011 by

Done with coloured pencils. This was inspired by an ornament on our mantelpiece – the rest is imaginative.

I am a retired man who enjoys expressing himself in pencils and paints. I have had two solo exhibitions in my home town and I love Redbubble. I get as much pleasure from viewing the works of other artists as from creating my own.

yes beautiful! I haven’t used coloured pencils for quite a while (though I spotted them in the cupboard today….)

  • They are a great way of creating a picture without making too much mess on the table or carpet :)

    Clever & Colourful Cockerel
    Delightful, Dave

  • Thank you. This is actually a little ornament on our mantelpiece. The colours and the background are all imaginative of course.

wow, Dave, This is superb!! love the colors, and your style is instantly recognised as yours!!! What brand of pencils do you use? i can’t get mine to cover that solidly. I have used several different brands, maybe i just need to color harder?

  • I’ve checked on the Internet, but I don’t think the pencils I use are available in USA … I may be wrong though. I buy them from a nation-wide stationer called W. H. Smith … they are cheap -£5 for 36 and once a year or so they have a sale and I stock up at £3.50 a go :) Not sure what that is in dollars. They have a waxy constituency as opposed to being chalky and I burnish them with a paper towel while working. Thanks for taking an interest.

OHhhhh! I love this Dave. The colors and the work as a whole is vibrant and dynamic. Is this one of your little beauties?

  • Thanks Bunny. Actually this is based on an ornament on our mantelpiece. I usually use my computer to view my photos, but my son was using it one night when i felt the urge to do a drawing. I sat with my drawing pad and my eye rested on the ornament and away I went :)
