309 - SEATON SLUICE - 03 - DAVE EDWARDS - WATERCOLOUR & INK - 2010 by

As of 4th May 2010, this has been Favourited 24 times.

FEATURED BY INSPIRED ART GROUP – 3rd May 2010

I decided to complete the trilogy of Seaton Sluice pictures.

Here are the other two:

Each picture is stylised, although as you can seem, this third one isn’t as stylised as the other two. I used some of the colours from my first Seaton Sluice picture to do this one. I also used watercolour; something I rarely use these days.

Oh yes …. it’s 9″ × 13″.

Well, I worried about whether this would fit in with the other two, but in the first two hours it was favourited 10 times and viewed 65 times, so I guess it fits in :) Thanks everyone – much appreciated.

I am a retired man who enjoys expressing himself in pencils and paints. I have had two solo exhibitions in my home town and I love Redbubble. I get as much pleasure from viewing the works of other artists as from creating my own.

Lovely work Dave and a great series my friend …

  • Thanks Tom … took me ages to finally complete the trilogy. It remained a duet for a long time, but I rather like threes :)

Gorgeous….LOVE the details in this :)

  • Thanks Webbie … I like details. I am trying to curb them a little, or at least in the background …. aerial perspective and all that :)

I like it because it’s wonderful to look at….but it also reminds me of LOTR’s….the first one “Fellowship of the Ring” Right at the begining when you get to look about the hobbit village :0)

  • I just can’t resist stylising things … some may think that is a fault, but hey, it’s part of me and my art. I have actually tried to do a “straight” traditional painting and in the end I just HAD to stylise it. I love traditional art, as I have said a hundred times, but that doesn’t mean I have to do it myself.

It truly heartens me when people like yourself and Willow Wyles (above) actually get what I am trying to achieve; however feeble my attempts sometimes are.. Elsewhere on Redbubble Willow wrote about her own art: ” … (I am) trying to get back to what I enjoy not what everyone else tells me I should draw.” That is how I feel too.

Very cute, Dave. What are the two red sticks in the front?
\THey look like something an adventurous child would walk
across like an Indiana Jones bridge.

  • I’ve never been quite sure to be honest. They are pipes, but I don’t know if they are sewage or water. Probably too narrow for sewage. It’s an interesting area actually. There is rumoured to be a secret tunnel somewhere that leads to Seaton Delaval Hall, a really old Hall, which I just happen to have done a drawing of … here, take a look ….
