Whew – was it really twenty-four years ago that I did this drawing; seems like yesterday.

In my opinion Aubrey Beardsley was simply one of the greatest pen and ink artists who ever lived.

Now you have seen Aubrey, go and take a look at his work

About BLYTHART

I am a retired man who enjoys expressing himself in pencils and paints. I have had two solo exhibitions in my home town and I love Redbubble. I get as much pleasure from viewing the works of other artists as from creating my own.

This is so classic and so unique at the same time. I love how you focus so deeply on shapes and texture, even in your portraits! A delight to view, as usual :)

Great use of line here with the verticals and variety of crosshatching to add texture and shadows.
