It’s a tee. It’s a dress. It’s the new Graphic T-shirt Dress.
Well, I do try to be different and I thought maybe a multi-coloured gorilla might fit the bill. I used Staedtler Fineliner pens for the entire picture – first time I have used them without any other medium.
gorilla blythart dave edwards
Looks like a marshmallow gorilla, I like it …
I wouldn’t try taking a bite from him though :) Thanks for the comment – first as usual :)
Ha! Yes, I think a multi-colored gorilla is definitely something different! Love it, Dave =] I feel like I should know this already, but do you use Copics at all?
I just Googled Copics … are they any good? I use Staedtler Triplus Fineliners. Thanks for the comment Cadence.
I don;t like gorillas much from an aesthetic point of vire, but this one is COOL!
We saw some lovely gorillas in Barcelona Zoo last year and I decided to do a multicoloured one … but I used an old sketch I did of a gorilla in Chester Zoo many years ago.
view* I think that is one of the most egregious typing errors I have made O_o
Oh, yes. They are very fun to use and are unique because they are (to an extent) blendable. Check out this guy’s video – I think you will appreciate this!
Thanks Cadence … it’s interesting and I have bookmarked it to see more later. I looked on ebay for those Copic pens but they are a bit too expensive for me :(
Completely Wonderful !! Reminds me of sticking your head under the quilt as a child and seeing weird and wonderous things. I can totally see him in a children’s book (maybe a whole zoo of multicoloured friends). The background is gorgeous too. ACE !! x
I was testing my fineliner pens to see if I could do a whole drawing with them. I think I’ll stick to usiong them for hatching, etc. as the ink will vanish quickly if I use them for filling in – they are only 0.3mm and take AGES when filling in. I usually use coloured pencils or paint. Interesting experience though.
Love the bright colours, I use Staedtler Triplus Fineliners too, but I’ve been reading about the Copic pens which do look good, but yep cost is definately an issue. Cheers Mel
Thanks Mel. That video Cadence (above) gave us the link to is worth watching.
Forgot to mention … those Stadetler pens are £20 for 20 in WH Smiths, but I got a pack of 20 for just £10 on ebay. Even Wilkinsons are selling them at £4 for ten, but not such a variety of colours though.
wow candy cane go rill lah but wild good good n sooo different
But Walt .. in Blyth, where I live, we have gorillas like this roaming the streets all the time; surely you saw them on your travels ;)
I know what you mean (I go through black like nobody’s business). They have beautiful jewel like colours though- I might have to check out whats available x
I just bought two black Zig Artist Sketching Pens from Blackwells (Newcastle) today. They are alcohol-based permanent ink, so may be good for using with watercolours. They are made in Japan … nice fine nib.
Thanks- I’m due a wee trip to the artstore- they sound very nice too x
