This acrylic painting is loosely based on a photograph of Akeld from Akeld Hill (Northumberland, England), taken by a friend of mine who gave me permission to use his photo.

I am a retired man who enjoys expressing himself in pencils and paints. I have had two solo exhibitions in my home town and I love Redbubble. I get as much pleasure from viewing the works of other artists as from creating my own.
Very colourful Dave …
wow this looks like a huge ,warm, cosy velvet duvet ,i feel like i could bounce on in there ,great work Dave ,where is Akeld Hills?
Happy bouncing Connie :) Akeld Hill is three quarters of an hour drive from us, in Northumberland, England.
this is zuper dave,so beauifully done as always-your a champ with pens and all other ways you derive a art piece
Thanks Walt … I always appreciate a compliment from a good artist like yourself.
I think you’re venturing into something a touch different Dave. I like the landscape theme and the red complimenting the greens – clever!
As you know, acrylics are still something I am trying to grasp, but this isn’t too bad I suppose. I do find though that the paint seems to fluctuate (I swallowed a dictionary) between watery and treacly at times … even on the same brushful..
It’s wonderful dave..I get a warm feeling from this one..it’s a bit like a cosy bright blanket that mother nature has provided.
Conniecrayon likened this to “a warm, cosy velvet duvet” and you liken it to “a cosy bright blanket.” I know exactly what you both mean. I do tend to turn harsh bleak landscapes into something cuddly :) Thanks both of you … we think alike.
Dave, I love the perspective in this painting!! Great job:)
Doing great with the acrylics Dave! In the unforgettable Dave Edwards style.
Thanks Andrea, you modest (in an Ozzie sort of way) lady (see my reply to your Journal for that joke to make sense).
Lovely work Dave. It reminds me of a series of colourful linear-patterned deep pile rugs all overlapping each other to create a wonderful landscape.
Tee hee … “a warm, cosy velvet duvet,” “a cosy bright blanket” and now “deep pile rugs.” I’ve obviously achieved the effect I was aiming at.
You sure have. Well done.
All this talk of blankets, rugs and velvet duvets has made me sleepy … goodnight!
Instant Fav for me Dave, I love it, really pulls the viewer in!!
