009 - TYNEMOUTH - DAVE EDWARDS - WATERCOLOUR - 1967 (PLEASE NOTE - THIS IS NOT A RECENT PAINTING) by

I must be feeling very confident of the kindness of Redbubble people, because here I am uploading one of my earliest ever pictures.

I still remember sitting on my little folding stool to draw this at the actual scene, back in 1967, when I was seventeen years old.

In 1968 I gave up drawing and bought my first camera and from then until about 1974 I was passionate about photography, even developing my own negatives and printing my photos. It all got a bit competitive and I couldn’t afford a superior camera, so I ended up using my camera for taking colour transparencies and began to find enthusiasm for drawing once again. Despite this, I would still have gaps of over a year with no drawing. I often wish I could relive my life. I know I would do more artwork and maybe take less notice of those who discouraged my efforts.

I am a retired man who enjoys expressing himself in pencils and paints. I have had two solo exhibitions in my home town and I love Redbubble. I get as much pleasure from viewing the works of other artists as from creating my own.

This is lovely work Dave and the text reminds me of my early years as it could have described my life at the time.

Never be discouraged Dave, you have a rare talent, a marvelous gift. Just because not everyone can appreciate it does not diminish your talent in any way. If this was one of your early works, it only proves that you had the talent from the beginning and over the years you have added skill to your amazing work. Keep up the good work mate …

I am sorry about my earlier reply—sometimes I cannot sleep at night and then later I suddenly fall asleep without being aware of it, even if I am sitting up, and that is the sort of thing that results from it. I maent to say that your work is beautiful and I am a fan of yours.

  • No need to apologise; I accepted it as humour and knew what you were saying – thanks :) I am a fan of your work too.

Yes, one can see the beginning of your present drawing style, but this stands alone just fine in its simple statement and “clean” look.
must I keep reminding him he isn’t olde yet?

for one of your earlier pieces of art this is very very good….know what you mean tho. I was persuaded to go to secretarial college which I did instead of art college by my parents…only took up the paint brush last year and have no clue what i am doing but just doing it! keep on painting!
