After seeing all the fantastic macro photos of flies on Redbubble I thought I’d add this one I did myself. I can’t afford a macro camera, but I did this with pen and pencils – a lot slower though :))

There is a story behind it too …. I drew the fly but made a mess of the background and discarded the picture. I found it later in a drawer and decided to use a very sharp knife and cut out the fly out. I then pasted it onto a fresh sheet of paper and drew the background in. Just goes to show that we should think twice before throwing stuff away … I nearly missed the chance of putting this on Redbubble :)

I am a retired man who enjoys expressing himself in pencils and paints. I have had two solo exhibitions in my home town and I love Redbubble. I get as much pleasure from viewing the works of other artists as from creating my own.

Wow! Is this a new one Dave? It could almost be a jewelled broach design. Nice strong colours.

Wow! This is an amazing drawing, Dave. What I like so much in your drawings is the patience and attention with which you made it and that shows! As if drawing is some sort of meditation for you. I mean, to draw a background like this you must have the patience that monk had in the middle ages, while drawing their Bibles.

I agree with the jeweled broach comment. Should be sold on some posh little street in London.
