Near the border of England and Scotland is a little village called Branxton. An old man lived there who had a disabled son. To cheer the lad up he built a few models of animals and people in the back garden. He used a wire framework and filled it with concrete, then painted it. Over the years his collection grew and grew. Eventually his son died, so he built a memorial to him and dedicated the garden to his son’s memory. The man too died, but the garden is still open to the public. I have been there a few times as it is just about an hour and a half’s drive away from here.
