Last night (13th May 2008) I saw Joe Satriani perform live at Newcastle City Hall, England. Such was the respect the audience had for him, we all remained standing throughout the entire two hour performance. This man is a magician with a guitar.
Here is a photo I took, from row T:

As well as his musical ability you have to admire his stamina … he performed without a break for two hours and it was all really really fast stuff too. I saw Pink Floyd perform Dark Side Of The Moon in the mid seventies, but this equals it in my mind.

did you ever get to see hawkwind or rory gallagher
Andy Mercer, 2 months ago
I saw Hawkwind and Rory Gallagher.. thought Rory was great. Hawkwind I thought where abit sad really… dressed up like monks with guitars.
I hate to say this but I have no idea who Joe Satriani is.

I can’t pretend to be an expert on Satriani’s music, although I had heard a few pieces. My son’s friend is mad on him and I went along with them both for the experience .. really glad I did. I’d say he is up there with Hendrix and Clapton at the very least. I saw Hawkwind back in 1973 or 4 … not one of my most memorable experiences, but okay. I saw King Crimson in 1971 … that was my first taste of live progressive rock music. Oops … just remembered, Redbubble is about art and photography :))

I love Satch ! I have all his albums, I first saw him in 1988 , shit ! that’s a while . He played at the Enmore theatre in Sydney. I first heard his music in 1987 from a mate from New Zealand. Joe Satriani Taught Steve Vai to play to Steve is great to. He played with Frank Zapper, Whitesnake another of my favourites, followed by his own album ‘Passion and Warfare’. Joe and Satch also played concerts called G3 with Eric Johnson another great guitarist. Glad you like Satch , he played a big part of my late teens and his music got me through some tuff times and help me develop and explore and expand my mind ,regards Jase! p.s ! great shot ! p.s.s Satch is a big Hendrix fan to.

Last night he played a couple of bars with his teeth; a nod to Jimi I guess. He acknowledges Hendrix as his first influence.

Wow, you must have been up close to get such a good shot! He looks quite young, I thought he was really old!
BLYTHART, 2 months ago
He’s 52, only six years younger than I am, so don’t you dare say he’s “really old” or I’ll send you another long e-mail and your attention span will explode :-P
... I was about ten rows from the stage Jackie, using a little pocket sized camera.
