146 - VARIATION ON BURNE JONES' MERLIN - DAVE EDWARDS - WATERCOLOUR - 2005
I wasn’t happy with this, so I have altered it and I am happy now :))

Burne Jones is one of my favourite artists ever. I wouldn’t attempt to do a straight copy of his work but this is one of his paintings done in my own style.

I think I’ve seen the rest of this batch but can’t remember this one Dave. You have a wide range of subjects but this one is about the most figurative. I like it.
BLYTHART in reply to Sean Farragher’s comment, 6 months ago
It is actually a variation on Burne-Jones’ painting The Beguiling of Merlin.

The background is much more harmonious now. Great stuff!

Yes, I reckon the new verson works a bit better Dave; more tone and contrast. Do you experiment with computer changes first to see what the results might be before repainting?

Nay laddie .. I’m a bit too old-fashioned ;)

ok ok, this is so weird
honestly, i thought i commented on this before, i mean after, i mean before this comment after you put it up for the second time, after ur adjustments.
COMMENT:
i can honestly say that i can enjoy it much much more now. the richer colours r way more pleasing to the eye. i forgot to mention before the tiny detail of me loving the sky behind, the stripes rock)
BLYTHART in reply to catblack’s comment, 5 months ago
You like stripes, don’t you. Chocolate stripes would probably be Zed’s idea of heaven on earth.
