176 - JASON THE CAT (WATERCOLOUR)
Jason was our cat before Mao. He lived to 13 but survived the last two years of his life with three legs. That didn’t stop him climbing fences though.

I really like this painting. It gives me this “at home” feeling. I really like it.
BLYTHART
It feels strange saying, “thanks Redheaded” do you have a first name we could use?
David Hinchliffe
This brought a smile to my face ..Nice one Dave
Jessica Tremp

BLYTHART
Thanks- you all reacted the way I hoped you would :-) That’s made me feel good.

I love the twisted perspective on the floor! Cool work.
BLYTHART
I started doing the squares and got the perspective wrong on the first one. I realised it sort of jumped out, so I decided to do them all like that to make the floor come alive. Whimsical – that’s me :-)

Yes, actually my name is Cory. I didn’t really know how this whole thing worked but I think it is safe to say that it will be ok if you know my name. Sorry about that.

I added this to my favourites. You seem like a very prolific artist. How many paintings do you finish in a week?
This is such a great site, I’m loving it!
BLYTHART
Hi Jackie,
Thanks – I don’t finish many in a week at all; I spend too much time on the computer. The reason I have so many is simply that I have been around a lot longer than you have (I’m three years shy of sixty).

This is definitely children’s book illustration material – I can see why your American friend is encouraging you to illustrate a book – your work is very well suited to illustrations – as opposed to “painterly” fine art. Mind you – I do consider illustration art – some don’t.

Very nicely done!

Managed to find a little time to have a look at your kitties! I love this one. The twisted perspective is really unique and those floor squares really pop! Love it, love it, love it!
BLYTHART replied
Many thanks Lisa Marie.

what i admire about your illustrations is the ability they have to transcend the small screen of my pc – the thumbnails are really clear images in their own right and then, when you go have a look at the bigger image, it just gets better! Fabulous!
BLYTHART replied
Many thanks.
Orla Cahill
Beautiful. Love the way you use pattern and colour in your works. Very creative,
BLYTHART replied
Thanks Orla. From an artist of your ability I value that compliment a lot … thanks.
Katerina Willi...
very good and iimaginative!! I really like all your work-am just trying Aquerelle and Watercolour-through tril and error I might add…
BLYTHART replied
Trial and error is my method of learning too :)

Camille is next to me, and says, this looks like Misha ( her most favorite of soft toys). This is really very cute Dave.
BLYTHART replied
It’s a sort of memorial to him. Poor little soul lived the last couple of years of his life with only three legs.
Bunny Clarke
Beautifully done. Great creation and dedi. :o)
BLYTHART replied
Thanks. We had a bunny rabbit called Tuffy and he would chase Jason everywhere. Tuffy (who was not neutered) apparently had the hots for Jason (who was neutered and wasn’t even a rabbit anyway) but Tuffy’s initial amorous attempts almost scared the fur off Jason :) Yeah … I know … too much information :)
