Very nice. You work is so unique.

More 3D than normal Dave. The shadows are very effective, as are is the lighting on the stones which give a lot of form and depth. Like myself, I think you’re getting well into coloured pencils. Are the dots on the hills large ants marching?
BLYTHART replied
Thanks Brian. I try not to be tied to always using shadows and depth, but I do use them when I feel it is appropriate. The dots on the hill are just stylised lines.

super duper! dave ,couldn,t be better! hooray for you
BLYTHART replied
Thanks Walt … I value your opinion. How is the exhibition project coming on?

I love this one! The reflection in the water is great! You have great detail!

Wow!! I dread to think what’s in that moat! :)
BLYTHART replied
Kaitlin … it’s no longer in the moat .. look behind you at once!!!
Firedrake
I did, and saw my guitar sitting there. Kind of scary cause it’s looking a bit worse for wear! :)
Terry Krysak
Your work sings with the use of shadows and depth in this one. The colors are also very pleasing to me.
BLYTHART replied
Thanks Terry … I am honest enough to admit that I have always had problems remembering to include shadows … too much Beardsley and Japanese art when I was a young and impressionable lad in my early twenties :))

Another wonderful drawing Dave,
Lance Leopold
It looks such a happy place,i like it,Dave!!!
Deborah Holman
Great drawing Dave. Do you think there is a support group for addiction to coloured pencils if so, I think we both could join!
JacquelineGwynne
Nice work! I didn’t know that you changed your name. Was thinking… who is that? Their work looks a lot like Dave Edwards!
BLYTHART replied
I had to change my name because the fans won’t leave me alone …I SHOULD BE SO LUCKY – HAHAHA :)) I have a Flickr account and a Google Blogspot and I use the name Blythart for both, so i though I’d use it for this too … and masquerade as Blythphoto for my photographs.

This makes me fee like “Through the Looking Glass.” Wonderful wavy fantasy feel.
helene ruiz
fantastic!

Great work again

This is a quality pencil image, Dave.
This could easily grace a children’s story tale.
Kids love ruins (‘specially castles) – and you’ve nicely invited them to this beauty, with that convenient drawbridge!
Good depth to the moat/abyss area. And the slightly wobbling effect of the towers, just increases the surreal atmosphere.
Excellent work, my friend.
BLYTHART replied
You understand me well, my friend :)) Thanks for the compliment at the end too.

i agree with colin
your work is wonderful
Angelique Moorman
How lovely. It’s opening a fantasyworld, not only for children. But indeed, it would suit an illustration in a childs book. I love it! What measurements of paper do you use? (In cm please…) I like to draw on A3-paper or 30×40 cm, sometimes 40×50 cm.
What I like also is your detailled castle and the rough sky above. Dit you use aquarelpencils also or did you smush some colours in the background and the grass?
Love the vibrant look you get this way. The castle comes to ‘life’ this way. Very mysterious… and magic…
BLYTHART replied
I just used WH Smith’s cheap coloured pencils throughout and A4 paper.

I happen to love this piece! It reminds me of fantasy as a yound girl thinking of being a princess in a castle. It’s exactly how I would imagine it, with lots of color and the magical appearance. Great work!

This is excellent. Love the reflec tions in the moat. You have a super talent.
I can’t draw a sraight line without instruments, but Technical Drawing was one of my best subjects at school and college.
BLYTHART replied
Thanks Tom.
Catherine Howell
I really like your curvy buildings:)
BLYTHART replied
After doing lots of pen and ink architectural drawings I decided to do the exact opposite for a change … bendy coloured pictures :) Here’s what I used to draw (and still occasionally do):
Catherine Howell
This is exceptional work. Wow!!
BLYTHART replied
Now do you see why I fancied a change :) Bendy lines are sort of friendly .. if that makes sense. Straight lines are regimental.
Catherine Howell
Regimental, maybe, but there is certainly a place for regimental:) This is excellent work, but I LOVE the whimsical type:)

fabulous work Dave
