279 - I'VE LOST MY RABBIT - DAVE EDWARDS - COLOURED PENCILS & FINELINER PENS - 2009

This fellow landed from my imagination and seems to have lost his pet rabbit. He didn’t leave it in his space-ship, so goodness knows where it is. If you find it, you have to cry, “He’s behind you!” in true pantomime spirit :)

I used coloured pencils and fineliner pens to bring him to life. He’s not based on anyone or anything; purely imaginative.

Shut Up! You’ve been reading my diary…....;) Oh, wait a minute, I have a big, fat kitty that will help you out….:D

  • BLYTHART replied

We had a rabbit that chased our cats – seriously. He even growled.

This is very cool! What an imagination!

And the first phrase that came to mind, upon first seeing this was “How friggin’ cool can you get?”

The thought hasn’t changed much, since that point.

This is so neat! Do more of them and make a kids book based on the poor guy trying to find his rabbit, is my suggestion. It might sell well. I know I’d want a copy!

  • BLYTHART replied

Thanks for the compliments. The book would be good, but it’s already been done. My daughter had a book with a similar theme where you had to find a character that would be hidden on every page.

LOL wondeful pic and i found him ;0).....he’s behind you…....lol…....such fun…..

  • BLYTHART replied

Little things please little minds :P

  • LTScribble

    LTScribble

i think you would have to explain to me the context of what you consider to be little in relation to the context of what you consider to be large :0) I am pleased with this…..and to create this you have to have a very large imagination which implies a large mind….....hehehe…..so there

  • BLYTHART replied

Oops – I was referring to you finding the bunny, not me drawing it :P

  • LTScribble

    LTScribble

    lol :0)

  • Arletta

    Arletta

Uhm .. there are thousands of similar books, in fact; one more wouldn’t hurt! Might help. Not that I’m insisting that you have to make one. Just saying, if no one ever wrote a murder mystery, horror story, history book on William Wallace, love story, or etc. just because someone else had written something similar, there’d be darned few books and we’d miss out on a lot of good literature!

  • BLYTHART replied

Thanks … I appreciate your kind thought, but I have no money to pay for printing and new authors very rarely get works like that published for free.

  • Linda Callaghan

    Linda Callaghan

this is great Dave…goes well with Peter Rabbit…..now if we could only find him?
    lol…...

  • BLYTHART replied

Thanks. I am capable of being objective and I now feel that the background is far too cluttered.

  • Linda Callaghan

    Linda Callaghan

I would call it full of interest and colour (also Peter Rabbit has a lot more places to hide if there are more things there….wonder which tree he is behind) lol…

  • BLYTHART replied

Because there is a little brown rabbit (a small one) in this picture, it was accepted into Rabbit, Rabbit Group … kind of them.

  • BLYTHART replied

Peter rabbit is off for a pint of beer, but his cousin is here.

  • Linda Callaghan

    Linda Callaghan

oh there he is!! he is off to the pub to meet Peter! lol…..

  • Arletta

    Arletta

lol And, you can publish for free at Lulu.com, so long as you do your own formatting. It does cost something to buy one of their distribution packages, but, you don’t have to. You could just upload and sell as either a download or an actual book, and put your copyright and not even have to buy an ISBN unless you wanted to try selling it in book stores or to the library.

And, I’m still not insisting, just saying .. it can be done and it would be excessively cute. lol

  • BLYTHART replied

Going by the incredibly poor reception this has received (compared to my other most recent one) I don’t think anyone other than you would be interested:( I certainly do appreciate your enthusiasm though and thank you very much.

  • BLYTHART replied

No – he comes from a planet where they are all vegetarians :)

  • Arletta

    Arletta

This is what poor reception looks like, is it? Wow! You must get a LOT of attention.

For me, this would be a good haul of comments. I’m soundly ignored, by most.

  • BLYTHART replied

Yes, this has plenty comments, which I truly appreciate. That’s not how I measure the success of a picture though :) I won’t be doing any more like this for a while … it was done in a fit of whimsy :)

  • Malcolm Chant

Yerp you’ve hidden him very well Dave, again an excellent work.

LMFAO! That rabbit’s not hard to find unless one has a bunniphobia. :-D The part that makes me curious tho is whether or not this fellow is “home” or just landed in a place where his head fits in so well. Sure, he could have taken his rabbit with him in his ship, just now returning home and it hopped out behind him. But, from your description, this must be a new place for both the ice-cream conehead and the bunny in question. In that case, we’d all better hope the hare’s hair doesn’t start changing with the seasons. Finding it then will TRULY be a furry situation indeed. :-O

  • BLYTHART replied

... that comment was furry funny indeed … when he gets back in the space-craft he will have a hare-raising experience :)

  • Karin Taylor

wonderful, do hope he finds his wabbit soon Dave :)

  • BLYTHART replied

I keep telling him it is the furry brown thing with the long ears :)

  • DilettantO

    DilettantO

Fascinating treatment. Reminds me of Yellow Submarine the way it uses pattern so effectively.

  • BLYTHART replied

Thanks … I can’t resist experimenting. This is part picture and part design, as are many of my pictures. As for Yellow Submarine .. it wasn’t deliberate but yellow submarine is certainly entrenched in my subconscious, as I am a Beatles fan (since 1963).
