98 - OVERLAPPING DESIGN - DAVE EDWARDS - INK - 1985
We all get tied up in knots now and again :) This was designed me by me. I used a compass and pencils to do the curves and then freehanded over it with ink and added cross-hatching.

This is really intricate Dave, nice work. i am loving seeing your celtic stuff, I too have done a bit of celtic inspired artwork in the past…..hmm, another thing to go back too when I have time!!!
BLYTHART replied
The older we get, the more we have to return to :) I have much more to return to than you of course. I just meant you are slightly over 21 (or is that a secret?)

Wonderful Work ! x
BLYTHART replied
Many thanks Anita. You do realise I used a compass to pencil in the lines and then freehanded it after that. The design was all my own work of course. Just wanted to set the record straight as I wouldn’t want to be featured under false pretences.

Congrats for the feature,, you deserve it,, if only I had saved or took pics of all my ink doodles I did on those long lonely nights on security duty while in the Navy,, OH WELL .,, all is gone now,, but you inspire me too try it again,, now I have a CAMERA,,, LOL,, LINMARIE
BLYTHART replied
Don’t despair. You own the same brain you owned when you did the doodles (a derogatory term I don’t use myself) so if you can do them once, you can do them again – or better. In future, keep all your “doodles” and you can use them to do paintings from at some stage. To me a “doodle” is an inferior drawing, but I’m sure your “doodles” are great. A more impressive term for doodles is “preparatory sketches” :)

I squinted at the cross-hatched background, and swear I saw an a celtic warrior looking straight back at me – (subliminally, maybe)..... Did I Dave? Intentional? Lovely piece :)
BLYTHART replied
Thanks Chris. Not intentional. As it is Saturday night I can only think that the beer must be really strong where you live :)
Chris Baker
Ha! No beer for me! Just waay too many hours on this detailed pencil portrait (making me see things… ;)

Many thanks. Little did I realise 24 years ago that this would one day be featured on the Internet. I still had 14 years to go before I would first try to use a computer.
