263 - THE QUIET CORNER - DAVE EDWARDS - COLOURED PENCILS - 2009

This is a stylised coloured pencil drawing of our garden. The brick plant trough was built by my wife, but it’s straight – I bent it for effect :)

Okay – not completely coloured pencil – I used blue acrylic paint for the sky :)

The cat is a stylised version of our elder cat Mao (rhyming with cow and not with mayo).

THIS HAS BEEN FEATURED IN FOR THE LOVE OF CATS GROUP – 11th July 2009

    I love the warping

  • BLYTHART replied

Many thanks … but please don’t call me a warped artist :) I sometimes call it bendy art .. but please don’t call me a bent artist either :) Seriously – I appreciate your comment – After years of doing straight drawings involving austere buildings, I developed a penchant for bending lines … I feel it makes them cosy :)

Glad you like it. If you can find a soft cushion for your chair, feel free to view it for as long as you wish :) Excuse my cheekiness; I am in a cheerful frame of mind today.

your art always breaths of life, even wall move as you look at a dave art piece-its always wonderful-and colors make a attention yelling, voice saying, look ar this, art!!

  • BLYTHART replied

The same can be said about your work my friend. I like realistic art, but I leave it to those who can do it better than I could. I love bending lines and occasionally using deliberately inappropriate colours to inject life into a scene and I think you do too. I think we both have moments when we like to startle people by doing “look at me” pictures :)

lovely flowing piece of art Dave…I really do like the way you draw your lines and your colour choices. It really is a lovelu peaceful quiet corner and now I know how to pronounce Mao (I did think it was mayo oops)...another wonderful piece Dave.

  • BLYTHART replied

This is funny but true. Mao went missing oncve and we were at the door shouting, “Mao” when a little voice below us called out, “Mao, Mao” and it was Mitch. In all fairness, Mao is the only word he can say, but it made us smile that day :) Mitch went missing once and Mao disappeared, returning an hour later with Mitch trailing behind him. We are convinced he was looking for little Mitch.

  • BLYTHART replied

All credit to the garden goes to my wife Trish. There are many more flowers than I depicted here.

Somehow this gets me thinking of Alice in wonderland and the cat that conceals itself in the tree; although the cat here is not in a tree…

  • BLYTHART replied

I have tried seing this afresh through your eyes and you know – I agree. Our Mao (the model) has a bit of a Cheshire cat expression here :) Thanks.
