196 - TALL SHIPS LEAVING THE TYNE - DAVE EDWARDS - PEN & INK - 1993
The tall ships sometimes visit the River Tyne and here is a drawing of them leaving. I did this back in 1993 using Rotring Isograph pens and it took about ten hours or so to complete altogether.
This has special meaning for me because my great great grandfather, Captain James Jewels, was a sea captain whose ships sailed on this very river in the 19th century.

This one is really lovely. The detail on the ships is wonderful and I like the texture of the water with its subtle waves. 10 hours well spent I’d say. =)

Ah, ships! My favourite subject for watercolour.
A fine sketch and good details of the sailing ships. Great in pen..and brave, Dave.
The last time I saw them, was from Gateshead and North Shields, in 1986.
