095 - INFLUENCED BY ESCHER - 02 - DAVE EDWARDS - INK - 1985
This is another one of my Escher pictures. As I mentioned before, last time I showed it, someone accused me of copying Escher, despite my title.
The motif is all my own design, but the technique was learned by reading instructions by Escher, who invited people to try it for themselves.

I had more patience in those days :)

Lol if it were me I would probably stop half way and steadily finish it off bit by bit over the subsequent months.

The secret is to have a pile of your favourite CDs and listen to them as you draw; that way you always have an excuse to be sitting listening to music … eg: “I’m not listening to music; I am working at a drawing” :) I find it easier to work at a drawing that way.

great patience

My sainted Aunt used to chant:
“Patience is a virtue, possess it if you can;
seldom in a woman and never in a man”
... what does that make me then … and don’t you dare answer that Sean :)

This was 23 years ago. I don’t know if my patience or my eyesight would be good enough to repeat something like this now Cathy.

M.C.Escher, I love his work, and this is a great tribute to him. This looks like an interesting challenge. HMMMMMMM… Flying fish and swimming birds…

The figures look like they might be found on the side of some South American Pyramid.
BLYTHART replied
Sorry to disappoint you – they actually originated in my head – another ancient monument :)
