41 - JAPANESE LADY - INK - 1981
The fine detail doesn’t show up in the scan. I like doing this sort of design stuff. I put on a CD and just sit there drawing as an excuse to keep listening to music :))

Sylvia Karall
Beautifully painted. Lovely design and detail.
Marilyn Brown
This is a beautiful ink drawing, in fact all your ink drawings are wonderful. What I lkie best about this one is the large areas of one tone ie. black and white. It balance the area of fine detail in the dress.

She’s probably thinking, “How long have I got to stand here holding this stupid tray while my corns are killing me”.

Absolutely beautiful, reminds me of Aubrey Beardsley’s work. ANOTHER favourite!!!
BLYTHART replied
Aubrey Beardsley was influenced by Japanese art. He was the artist whose work made me want to draw in the first place. Imagine what he could have created if he’d lived beyond the age of 26.
Alexandra Felgate
He was an amazing artist, and an early influence of mine, my parents had three Beardsley prints hanging in our kitchen when I was little, and I was fascinated by them
BLYTHART replied
hen i was younger and living at home, I had the Beardsley poster of Salome holding the dripping head of John The Baptist on my bedroom wall and my mom wouldn’t clean my room while it was there :)
Catherine Howell

BLYTHART replied
You say the nicest things … seriously … you do. I wish I could do accurate portraits like you do. I think you could do anything if you tried.
LTScribble
I think so to Dave….i think we all can do anything if we try hard enough…...and i plan to…..(i plan to try….hard enough) :0)
BLYTHART replied
I feel that many gifted artists under-achieve because they rest on their laurels, whereas other less gifted ones feel they have to work hard to catch up.
