235 - ONCE IN A BLUE MOON - DAVE EDWARDS - COLOURED PENCIL & INK - 2008

Catherine Walker suggested I paint directly from my imagination, so I have done a couple in a style similar to one I drew with a couple of decades ago, with a few of my more recent quirks for good measure :) This is the second one.

It’s a beauty dave.. no kidding ..I like it ..well done!!

except mr moon there is doing… what ..?..he looks a bit creepy..sorry ..I know you’re going to scream at me for this…hhhhha!!! don’t slap me..he!! the moon is pissed off about something ..and I’m wondering why.. everything else in the pic looks pretty happy ..except fot that one moon.. I’ll wait till you explain
but I DO like it!! and the colours are great!
I actullay love the angels or the flying men..the whole painting is very unusual and interesting

“Mr Moon” (I actually had a friend once called Mr Moon) is one of those strict bosses and he is making sure everything is in order. He has a fat face and a grumpy “I’m a busy man” expression … a little like Captain Mainwaring of Dad’s Army fame I suppose. I sort of drew him looking unhappy to tease you I suppose. If you hadn’t called my work creepy I might have given him a sweet little smile … but you’ll never know now, will you? :)

I drew him as a person first and then decided to change his body to a skyscraper and his arms to angels. Whimsical … that’s me :) The buildings have come to life and taken on the shapes of people … something that happens … well … once in a blue moon … haha! It’s all a bit of fun really … well, we need a laugh now and again.

OK ..I got all of that ..well done !! ..and not even too creepy this time..!!!

  • BLYTHART replied

Darn it! I’ll have to try harder next time if I want to freak you out. Trish has suggested I try to illustrate a poem or a story or a song. How would you like me to illustrate a verse from John Lennon’s lovely song (I Am The Walrus): .. “yellow matter custard dripping from a dead dog’s eye”? Hmmm … I wonder if anyone HAS illustrated that line :))

  • BLYTHART replied

Every now and then I go off at a tangent and let my imagination go wild and whimsical and this is the sort of stuff it produces. Thanks for your nice comment; much appreciated.
