227 - BRICKERFLIES – WATERCOLOUR, INK & PENCIL -
After my last butterfly picture Dimarie suggested I do another one. I enjoy drawing bricks and stones, so I decided to see if butterflies could be made from coloured bricks :) They can … and they can fly … well, in my little world they can :) I must mention that my wife, Trish, thought of the title, “brickerflies”.

Where to you get all your IDEAS from Dave?
You keep coming up with something new all the time!!
These are brilliant!
Cheers Neil
BLYTHART replied
I am trying hard to learn more about art techniques so I can better express the ideas I have. You and Brian and James seem to produce masterpieces effortlessly. I’m getting there, but oh so slowly.

Mothsaics! I think I can always see in your paintings an artist who is greatly enjoying himself, loves what he is doing and, in your case, producing something unique. Colourful, and with that touch of shadow it has depth.
BLYTHART replied
Thanks Brian. You know how authors dedicate their books to people … well, I think I should inscribe my paintings as, “with shadows dedicated to Brian Towers” :) It was you and a lady called Isobel McCreight of Canada, who between you alerted me to the importance of shadows. I am truly grateful to you for this my friend.

Superb! Love the delicacy and intricacy of this one Dave. It’s fantastic.
BLYTHART replied
I enjoyed doing this one and I am grateful to Trish for the title.
Orla Cahill
You should try doing a huge painting of this one in acrylic on canvas. It would be amazing! And well done to Trish for coming up with such a wonderful title. It’s great.
BLYTHART replied
Nice thought, but once I have done a painting I get bored by repeating it. If I did it in acrylic it would be different anyway; different colours, etc. It would be lying aorund the house gathering dust ‘cos I can’t sell them or I will be in trouble from DSS. I’m not sure if I will ever be allowed to sell my work … even if anyone did want it.
Orla Cahill
That’s a shame that you feel you are not allowed to sell. I’m sure if you had an exhibition of your wonderful works locally you would most definitely sell almost everything. You should talk to the DSS and see what you may be allowed to do. There may be different rules for artists.
