I like the structured perspective in this Dave. As there is something in brickwork called ‘headers’ I guess it fits well with your theme.

    Clever, clever concept, Dave.
Superbly drawn and coloured, as only you can – and that humour!

    I’m just back from Andalucia.
I have an eye operation to save my sight tomorrow my painting future hangs in the balance.
But still hoping to get to see your exhibition before it closes

  • BLYTHART replied

Hi coin, Firstly, many thanks for liking this painting. Everyone comments on the earlier version, but not many on this version. I do hope your eye op is a success. Although my exhibition is billed as being until 1st August the theatre has closed for the summer :-( At least I did get four weeks, which ain’t to be sneezed at.

  • Mark Ramstead

This has the idea but most of the composition takes your eyes away from it, Since you have people hidden within the bricks, it is doubly hard to see them. Thus the word camouflage comes up.

  • BLYTHART replied

I agree. In retrospect, I feel the faces would be more obvious if the background was plain. Thanks again.

    Well hello again Dave..
Yes now I see it for the second time.
    Another brilliant idea.
Is it a reason you chose to do 2 figures and 3 heads… Or is only a matter of composition?
I look at it.. I can feel difficulty between the 2 figures.. there is not a possibility to really touch..
The 2 holes in the wall, as faces.. reflects perhaps “viewing” different landscapes.
    Different point of view, maybe.
This work show progress from the first one..
    there’s similarity, yet difference.
You know, personally I would try to paint a solution .. I mean these 2 hands reach out for each other and touch, for example.
    JUST FANTASTIC, DAVE.

  • BLYTHART replied

In my mind I am capturing a moment in stone – or brick to be precise :) One human being reaching out to comfort another in distress. Think of this as a couple of brick statues. You seem to read sadness into these pictures – maybe your own sadness you are projecting into the painting. For me it is an image of hope as the third face is looking upwards … maybe to God – the source of all hope for the future. Maybe the village is protected and these two people are the guardians in the middle of a personal conversation. Project your own ideas into the picture – that is what art is about. Art can be someting to make you think – not always something telling you what to think.

  • Nira Dabush

    Nira Dabush

    It is true, Dave.
The colours seems very happy, actually.
And.. I agree different people sEE different things in a same piece of ART. I see it a lot in comments to my artworks.. Sometimes people see things , I didn’t intent to convey. I like that..
You know different interpretations to the same WORK OF ART.
The project, I suggested here for you.. was something similar, to what I had in mind a while ago..
    but haven’t made it really…
Personally… I find many times INSIGHTS, in others comments, although not always it was my intention on the first place.
AND.. Sometimes other people do read my mind.
    :-)
    ENJOY THE WEEKEND..!

  • BLYTHART replied

Be prepared – my picture may not coincide with what you had in mind, but that’s art for you :) I already have an image in my mind.

  • Nira Dabush

    Nira Dabush

YES.. I know what art is, Dave.
Please take your time ( referring to your other reply).. Looking at my life.. I’m more then patient …
You know there is a sentence: הסבלנות משתלמת = patient rewards.
I asked myself is it really?...
I’m sure in your case, my patient rewards.

  • BLYTHART replied

Many believe women are more patient than men are. As my dearly departed Aunt liked to say:

    “Patience is a virtue,
    possess it if you can.
    Seldom in a woman ..
    .. and never in a man” :)

  • Nira Dabush

    Nira Dabush

    I learned something new here.. I didn’t know it as a fact… :-)
I’m sure research were done about it..
and of course this can be checked in internet..
Perhaps I will do work about it… patience I mean.
    Thanks Dave
