wow i never saw ths one before dave it is sooo good-you need to have some who makes children books find you! for your art is so delightfuly-joyful-it fit right in with a great story!
Cadence Gamache
Great colors and fun shapes! I love your style of illustration… I can’t believe this is watercolor! Wow!
BLYTHART
I am more interested in illustrating than big paintings I guess. I just want to make people smile with my art.
BLYTHART
Cadence – you are the same age as my son – can my wife and I adopt you and then you can be my publicity agent :-) I am still interested in doing a painting from your fireworks photo.
JacquelineGwynne
This is a happy, fun image! You definitely have a unique style, I like the stylization.
natmis
i love the curvey lines and the colour and that blue house, make’s me smile. good work!
Terry Krysak
Your work has a wonderful “mood” to it.
BLYTHART
Jackie and Natmis – the words “happy, fun and smile” are ones I love to hear associated with my pictures and I thank you. Terry used the word “mood” which I also like to hear. Thanks all of you
paul romanowski
Love your style…

Now where do I begin? Amazing, beautiful, not to mention brilliant talent!
BLYTHART
Penny, you are an angel! I’m still not used to hearing people say such nice things about my paintings because here where I live I am considered a beginner (apart from my pen and inks). Joining Redbubble has taught me that maybe I am nowhere near as inadequate as I formerly believed myself to be. Maybe I should move to Australia if i want to be appreciated. Maybe we all need a little encouragement now and again and so I thank you and everyone else who has encouraged me so much on Redbubble.
funkyfacestudio
wow ! I love this It’s so creative and colorful.

You’ve got some well-deserved praise there Dave. This is my first day on Redbubble, but I intend to stick with it when seeing such good artwork.
Martin Derksema
I agree with Madvlad. The innocence and happiness of your work is striking.
Patricia L. Ba...
I missed this one before, too. I agree with madviad. You should illustrate children’s books.

I love your whimsical take on the world around you. Isn’t it funny how we see our own art and think only one style is ‘good’?! You do beautiful work, both in pen and ink and watercolor. Wish I could go walking in these fields!
BLYTHART replied
Thanks JanG. I’d get bored with just one style, so be prepared for surprises as I switch styles a lot between pen and ink and whimsical colour.
phil1950
Excellent image, great colours, tones, contrasts, technique, shows good talent, well done
ElegantSavage
Wow we just want to bounce all over those fields…this is a really refreshing style you’ve got here…makes us think of those inflatable castles…great stuff:)

Yes, Bouncy castles, Yellow Submarine movie, Gaudi, Hundertwasser, Disney Cartoons … I have been influenced by all those … whether consciously or subconsciously.

What a stunning piece this is Dave! I do love those curvy areas and the colours are exceptional.

bevmorgan
I love your style, your colours and the feeling of joy portrayed in this delightful painting. I have never been to Blyth, but my family originated from Hartlepool, and I can relate to so many of your subjects. I am so glad we connected.
BLYTHART replied
I shall try very hard to resist all those “who hung the monkey” jokes :) Seriously though, Hartlepool is improving its image a lot over the last few years. They have a lovely little art gallery. It was once a church and they have retained the stained glass windows.
mscholl21
I really love this. Fabulous style
Viv King
When I saw your work for the first time I was struck by its magical almost fairytale quality. I hope you have found a book publisher. Your paintings would make great illustrations for children’s stories.
BLYTHART replied
You are really kind. I gratefully accept “magical almost fairytale” as one of the nicest compliments I’ve had. I am a retired postman/mailman who enjoys painting. I’m not even sure how I would approach a book publisher. I have to admit though, that I do seem to prefer illustrations to wall paintings. My wife wants me to do illustrations, but at the age of 59 and being medically retired I feel I may have left it too late :(

AnitaInverarity
WOW- I love this work too :)))) Completely awesomely well done Dave !!!!

...... and yes its OK lol
Lynda Robinson
If I can find the bottom of the comments page I would like to add mine!!!! Congratulations on the feature Dave. (On reading George’s comment I have cravings for some of those yummy Pommie fish n chips)!!!! Very clever ‘whimsicalism’ – hey, that could become a new art movement, like ‘pointillism’ and ‘cubism’!!!! Well done and thanks for brightening our days with your wonderful work.
BLYTHART replied
This will amaze you – before i joined Redbubble I was in a group called WHIMSICALISM. Not much was happening, but if you care to look here you’ll see I am speaking the truth :)
BLYTHART replied
Sorry Lynda – when you get there you have to look up ARTISTS and then Dave Edwards. I was invited to join by a lady who was trying to create a new movement called WHIMSICALISM
Lynda Robinson
How interesting! I am amazed!!!! I will go and have a look…...
BLYTHART replied
Just for fun – try commenting on THIS and see how long it takes you to get to the foot of the list of comments :) It’s my champion as far as vierwings and comments are concerned. I’ve even sold two postcards of it :)

Colin Cartwright
What I wouldn’t give to have this many comments!!
A riot of colours, sunspecs time!
This is a great little kid’s world you’ve created, Dave.
And would make a fine illustration for a book. Or psychedelia – reminds of the Beatles cartoon film, ‘Yellow Submarine’.
BLYTHART replied
... not sure why you call it a little kids world, but I am sure you mean well. I am trying to create an innocent world, not necessarily just for childen though.
annamora
